MItch was once one of Morrie's students in college. Morrie is now faced with Loue Gharigs disease and is said to only have two years to live, but Morrie knows it will take less time than that. Morrie makes an appearence on Dateline and Mitch sees it. He decides to go visit Morrie and at the end of the visit they agree to meet every Tuesday until Morries death. They meet and they discuss various things from regrets to death itself to trust. Mitch is deeply moved by his lessons and begins to record them so he will be able to listen to them in the future.
It is amazing what words a dieing man will say. This is weird to read because a lot of the same stuff was said by my grandmother right before her death. I just dont like how people wait until someone is about to die to start listening to their loved ones. I have begun to call my grandfather more and more just to talk with him. He was once the president of colleges and is a very smart man. This books and more so Morrie reminds me of him. I think that people need to start listening to their elders more and not wait until the few days before their death. Older people are always willing to talk!
